As I grew in the night – A poem by Joleen Bridges
By Joleen Halloran | February 4, 2013
I saw many things
I put up my hand
Now I can choose what I wish to see
As I grew up in the night
I saw many things
I put up a veil
Now I can choose, from what I did not hide
I saw many things
I put up a wall with a window
Not I can choose, from my window view
As I grew up in the night
I saw many things
I closed my window
Now I can choose, from what’s left inside
I saw the things I selected from the past
I sat down with my choices
Now I cannot chose, but I know what to expect
As I grew up in the night
I closed my eyes
For the world that I chose
Does not please me this night
As I grew up in the night
I dreamed
I climbed out of the window
I forgot where I started
I saw many things
I embraced them all – all is for me?
Now I choose – infinitely
